I love that gif so much.

She has only ever succeeded into tricking Katherine, that vampire didn't know much about her at all, just the basics. People who know her tend to be able to read her mind more clearly, wind in to what she's thinking and when she's lying.

She is Plus they have some moments that weren't shared with anyone else and I think that created an understanding. He was there for her during a time when almost everyone else had abandoned her, I think that during this time she would be the perfect person to comfort him.

I really wish we had gotten scenes with them when he was a ripper. I'll never understand how they missed that opportunity.

Neither will I. They lost out on some great scenes there. Seeing Stefan in his ripper hours would have had created so much potential for them both. Caroline would have noticed what turning your emotions off does to the soul.
